What to Expect at Your Lactation Visit
I’m excited to meet you and support you on this wild ride of parenthood. A few things to keep in mind as you get ready for our visit…
- You will need to electronically fill out my paperwork (consent forms and medical history) as well as set up your profile through a secure link sent to you from MilkNotes. Completing your profile and agreeing to the forms within it must be done 6 hours prior to our appointment or we will need to reschedule.
- If we are meeting at my office, please bring anything that you would normally use when you feed your little one. If you have questions about your pump/ pumping tools, please bring the entire pump set up including your flanges, tubing, and bottles.
- If we are meeting virtually, please try and be in a space with good lighting and everything you need to feed the baby close by.
- If this is a prenatal visit, we’ll discuss your feeding goals, address any concerns, and provide guidance on what to expect in the early days after birth. We'll review your medical history, explore your questions, and help you feel confident and informed. Please come prepared with any questions you may have — no concern is too small!
- If this is a postpartum visit, we’ll assess how feeding is going, address any challenges, and work together to support your feeding goals. It is ideal if I am able to observe a feeding and/or pumping session during our time together. To help make this possible, I suggest feeding your baby about 90 minutes before our appointment so they are likely to be ready to eat when we begin.
- Parenting is a team sport so please feel free to bring any and all support people with you to any type of visit you have scheduled.
